TECHNOLOGY IN THE ELA CLASSROOM

Funding from the Foundation brought Kindle Fire tablets into the ELA classroom, for a new way of learning piloted by Ms. McGough Choi and Ms. Donahue..

Bringing technology into the classroom has bridged 20th and 21st century learning. By accessing online programs such as Nearpod, Google Classroom and Kahoot, the students are able to use their technological talents for more than just texting. Instead the ELA curriculum is able to come alive as students interact directly with their teachers, working both individually and as class learning communities. By learning to use technology as an instructional tool, they are able to access the internet for further information while they are reading a work of literature and to develop their reading comprehension, writing and critical thinking skills.
