FUN WITH MAKEY MAKEYS:
AN INVESTIGATION OF ELECTROCHEMISTRY

An on-going collaboration between the High School and 5th grade students, this project allows the students to connect scientific principles to engineering projects and embodies the STEAM initiative.

The Makey Makey was created by MIT students to allow anyone to be an inventor. It is a simple invention kit using alligator clips which allows individuals to turn everyday objects (such as bananas, coins, even Play-Doh) into touch pads and combine them with the internet to play games or music.

Students from the AP Chemistry class will first show their creations to the fifth grade, applying what they have learned in physics, chemistry and biology. And then  the high schoolers will help the fifth graders make their own creations, engaging the younger students and providing both groups with the opportunity to showcase their creativity, ask questions, explore and discover answers.
