We're hiring!

​The Foundation is seeking a new bookkeeper (contractual).

The Board of Directors is searching for a part-time, permanent bookkeeper to manage its payroll and accounting systems, process accounts payable and receivable, submit monthly financial reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, and support the organization’s annual tax filing and financial review.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage payroll in a timely and accurate manner through Gusto payroll processing
  • Conduct reconciliation of all accounts on an as-needed basis
  • Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
  • Perform all activities related to accounts payable and receivable including reviewing, coding, and processing gifts received and payments
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, and reports upon request, through collection, analysis, and summarization of data
  • Prepare documents and financial reports for annual tax filings and financial reviews; work with the Executive Director, Treasurer, and accountants to submit tax filings, financial filings, and charitable filings in a timely manner
  • Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards
​Qualifications:
  • Degree or certification in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3-5 years relevant experience working in bookkeeping
  • Proficient skills in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Up to 15 hours per month
  • $35 per hour

​Mission Statement: Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns
The Foundation’s mission is to enhance educational experiences throughout the District, addressing the diverse needs and strengths of all our students. As a result of our fundraising, we serve as an “education incubator” that provides grants for innovative programs that will inspire and better engage everyone.
We encourage identifying, exploring and demonstrating the impact of new ways to teach and learn. At the same time, we provide targeted support to help ensure that all our students can participate together in the District’s educational enrichment activities.
Overview of the Organization:
The Foundation serves approximately 2700 students in grades K-12 across the Tarrytown Union Free School District (TUFSD) from two municipalities, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.
Founded almost 30 years ago, and today the Foundation offers students enrichment programs in Arts & Culture, Science-Technology- Engineering and Math (STEM), Wellness, College Readiness and Early Literacy.
The Foundation is managed by an Executive Director, an Executive Board, and a broader Board of Directors who operate through various committees, which include a Grants Committee, Finance Committee, Communications Committee, and Fundraising/Spring Benefit Committee.
 Partners for a Better Education, Inc., dba The Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns, is a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization registered in the State of New York. Our EIN is 13-3749969. ​Contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
