SOCIAL STUDIES EXPEDITIONS
Always thought history was nothing but dry dates and battles? Not any more: Google Expeditions is a virtual reality program that allows students to be immersed in a 360-degree environment.
Google, The New York Times and other organizations have created virtual reality experiences that allow students using Google Expeditions virtual reality headsets to travel through time and space and take "field trips" without ever leaving the classroom.
Time travel is not as yet a part of our district budget for field trips, but during station lessons, students will be able to visit Ancient Greece and Rome, the Aztecs and Incas and Renaissance Europe to make Global History come alive. Expeditions to Independence Hall and Yosemite National Park will help students study U.S. History, while Government & Contemporary Issues students will be able to visit Iraq and even a Syrian refugee camp.
